Making love
The narrow strait moistens the fingers that feel the rising tide,
Slowly they reach out to paradise.
Apart from Master Kong, wouldn't anyone know
that this is what it feels like to be in the throes of love
(HK)
Comp. Sôjin ‘83 p. 5, Ichinomiya # 18

'Master Kong' refers to Confucius.

In order to heighten the playful mocking atmosphere, the poem contains several allusions to high-brow classical literature.
